On 31 May 2025, our vibrant Slavic Cultural Community proudly took part in the Harmony Soirée 2025, a major highlight of the Darwin Festival of Cultures. Held each year at the Darwin Waterfront, Harmony Soirée brings together communities from across the Northern Territory to celebrate diversity, unity, and cultural pride through food, music, dance, and storytelling.

This year marked an exciting milestone: for the first time ever, our young performers presented two traditional Kazakh national dances – "Kamazhai" and "Qara Jorga" – on the main stage, stunning the audience with their rhythm, grace, and cultural passion.
🌟 Performers included: Olexandra Hutsol, Victoria Diaz, Valerie Diaz, Isabela Diaz, Darya Madadi, Sophie Nguyen-Phuoc, Ramina Pocock, Anastasia Hill, Beatrice Hill, Moses Shanahan, and Elijah Shanahan.
🩰 Choreography by: Alfiya Pocock With her deep cultural insight and creative vision, Alfiya guided the team through the meaning and movement of each dance, helping them embody the Kazakh spirit with pride and authenticity.

👏 Well done, everyone! Your beautiful performance brought the audience to life and added a rich Slavic voice to Darwin’s multicultural celebration.
We are proud of our youth, proud of our heritage, and proud to be part of Harmony Soirée – a festival where every culture has a place and every voice can be heard.
Stay tuned for more community highlights and future performances!
